House rendering is a little more indepth than traditional plastering. Nonetheless, it's a service we are proud to offer in the Canterbury area.
House rendering is similar to interior plastering, but has some key differences. The first difference is that it's applied to the exterior of your home. Because most external walls are higher up, their's a high likelyhood you will need scaffolding with a rendering project.
However, that's not always the case. If it's a single wall that's low to the ground, you may not need scaffolding. Garage and garden walls are a great example of this. If scaffolding is necessary for your project, it's possible you can hire a tower, which is a cheaper alternative. Once again, this depends on the height of the walls.
They say first impressions are all that matters, and the same is true for exterior rendering.
The outside of your house makes all the difference when people visit. Rendering gives you the option to make your exterior walls look brand new.
Just because rendering makes your home look like-new, it doesn't end there.
Once the render has dried, you can then re-paint your exterior walls. There are a variety of colour options to choose from. Some of the most common are White, blue, or grey.
You can expect render to last 20-30 years. Because it lasts so long, many houses haven't been rendered in 20+ years.
That means they will likely begin cracking and wearing out. A newly rendered house solves these problems by providing waterproofing properties, soundproof, and overal durability.

Brick Rendering Explained...
Nearly all homes in the UK have a brick foundation. We can render directly over brickwork, giving your exterior home a finished look. It's common for contractors to call us for brickwork rendering for new builds.
Render Repairs Explained...
We find that some customers dont need their entire house re-rendering. Instead, only part of their property need to be rendering. This is normally due to cracking and other types of damage.
Rendering Small Walls Explained...
Not every rendering job has to be big. We have had many jobs over the years for smaller walls. These include garden, patio, and front of house walls.
One of the most common rendering errors is not using the correct portions of sand, cement, and water. This results in a poor finish that can leave customers unsatisfied. We have many years of experience behind us, so this is not something you would need to worry about.
Another issue we see is putting on render too thick. This will ultimately lead to cracking. We understand how to apply render, so this is not something you need to worry about.
Unlike plastering, it can be difficult to render in colder weather. In fact, some companies will stop rendering in the Winter months because of how difficult it is. The general recommendation is to avoid rendering when the temperature drops to 5°C or below.
The main danger is that some types of render contain water, which can freeze in these types of temperatures. Another potential hazard is that it can be very difficult for render to dry in lower temperatures.
The good news is that this only applies for 2-3 months of the year.
